The pukeko is a native bird of New Zealand. It is also known as a swamp hen. It is found in most of New Zealand.

Description

Their feathers are blue and black and white under its tail. It has red eyes. Up on top of the head is a bright red shield to protect the pukeko.

The pukeko can actually swim without webbed feet. It can fly too, but they are very, very bad at take-offs.

It eats roots, frogs, baby eel, grass, worms, eggs and other small animals.

I think the pukeko is a very ,very strong bird.
