This bird is native to New Zealand. It is also known as a swamp hen. It’s found mostly in New Zealand.

Description

The pukeko has a red strong beak. It’s got blue feathers and two orange legs. Under its tail is white. It’s got a black back. They can swim under water but they don’t have webbed feet.

Habitat

They live in grassy areas and in swampy areas. They swim in brackish water and they live in lagoons.

Food

The pukeko eat other small animals and small eggs. They eat lots of frogs and eat lots of roots. They eat some berries and some worms.

I think the pukeko is a very interesting bird.
