Weta are endemic insects because they are only found in NZ.

They have six boney legs and can grow up to 13cm long. Their tusks are like bones that have been sharpened and they have armour on them which makes them more protected from other animals.

Their habitat is the bush of NZ, gardens, caves and even trees and grasslands.

They breed at night and when the female lays the egg the male takes over.

They eat leaves and other insects and they love carrots and they are omnivores.

I think it is cool that they have armour.
