The weta is an endemic insect ofNew Zealand.

Insects all have six legs and the weta is an insect. They can grow big and strong. Their body is protected with a shiny black-brown exoskeleton back. They have hairy legs and their ears are by their legs. They also have curved tusks.

They live in wetlands and if you keep your window open they might jump in and bite you which would be really really painful.

Weta eat leaves, plants, other insects and carrots. They are herbivorous and omnivorous.

They breed in spring.  They also can lay up to four hundred eggs in a lifetime. They lay them in a hole or in a tree.

I like weta they are cool and funny when they eat.
